How To Download Movies
Movie Downloads
What is movie downloading? Well, it is the same thing as music downloads, except you download a movie (LOL). Until recently, this would be an unheard of activity. But, with internet speeds on the increase, and the improvements in transfer technologies, this has become something that happens thousands of times online every day. We read recently that in France alone over 1.3 million movies were downloaded just last year.
Movie downloading is finding itself running up against the same issues that music downloads faced against the music industry and. People were starting to “share” there music with each other. The problem was, with all this great technology, instead of buying the CD people were learning to download everything off the internet for free. Because there was no actual sale going on, and it was like making a copy of a CD for a friend, it wasn’t clear whether it was illegal.
This gray area of the law became a battle ground as the music industry went to battle against the likes of Napster, and other P2P (peer to peer) providers. The solution, for the most part, was an agreement between the artists and many websites to provide download capabilities, and streaming music for a price. So now you have monster music download sites like Rhapsody, and Napster for that matter, providing this kind of service. There are still ways to “exchange” music for free but the movement in this industry has been to what are call legal music download sites.
The movie industry is finding itself in the same place. Before, it was impractical for people to download a full movie, it just took too long. Now, this has changed and Hollywood is dealing with the same issue that the music industry faced, even though most people still rent DVDs or go to the movies, but slowly movie downloads are starting to draw a crowd.
We see the same things happening to the movie download business now. There are sites that have bought the rights to allow you to download feature films. You get a monthly membership at one of these sites and you can get access to these downloads. Other sites battle on offering a platform for P2P exchanging of films. The laws aren’t clear on the legality of this. In 2005 PirateBay.org had their offices raided and arrests were made. It is our understanding that eventually no charges were filed, and that you can find this site up and running to this day. This seems to indicate that there are no legal grounds established to prevent them from operating.
Downloading is a great way to access all kinds of files; music, games, software, and of course movies. If you want to but Microsoft office, you can get in your car, drive to a computer store and buy it, or you can go online buy it and download it instantly to your computer. What is more convenient that that. So the sheer convenience of this type of access is very popular. As we see technologies improve more and more and the downloading gets faster, we will see downloading become even more popular.
