5. Far From Heaven
In Far From Heaven we see a housewife in the 1950′s named Cathy (Julianne Moore) deal with two of the major taboos of that time. Cathy is living the perfect 50′s housewife life, healthy kids, successful husband, and social prominence. Then her world comes crashing down around her.
She walks in on her husband Frank (Dennis Quaid) in a compromising position, with another man! In her struggle to cope, she develops a strong friendship with her gardener, Raymond (Dennis Haysbert), who is black. This just increases the difficulties she faces.
4. Spider-Man
This is an action packed superhero movie is based on the Marvel Comics hero. Peter Parker, a nerdy high school kid who had been pushed around all his life, is bitten by a genetically engineered spider. The bite turns mild mannered Peter into a superhero, with incredible powers. He becomes Spiderman.
Deciding to put his powers to use, he prowls the streets at night, trying to rid the city of evil. He quickly become a hero in the city. He also meets his first anti-hero, the Green Goblin, and major battles are fought.
3. Spirited Away
This is a Japanese animation film. Chihiro an her parents are moving to a new home. On their drive her dad takes a short cut down a mysterious road. From here strange things start happening. They come upon a restaurant with food served, but no one around. The parents decide to eat, but Chihiro is afraid. She wanders off instead.
Upon returning, she fids her parents are turned into pigs. She finds a boy who warns her to leave before night fall. The sun sets and the town is filled with mythical gods and spirits. Haku, the young boy, befriends Chihiro ands gets her a job at the bathhouse for the spirits and gods. He then help Chihiro save her parents, and find her way home.
2. The Pianist
This is the true story of Wladyslaw Szpilman who, in the 1930s was considered the best piano player in Poland, if not all of Europe. When World War II beaks out, Szpilman is subject to the anti-Jewish laws are imposed by the Germans. He finds himself in the Jewish Ghetto of Warsaw. He then suffers more as his family is deported to a German concentration camp. He is sent to a German Labor Camp.
Deciding to escape, Szpilman goes into hiding in a Jewish refuge camp. While there, he witnesses the Warsaw Ghetto Uprisings of 1943 and 1944.
1. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
The second film of the trilogy has the fellowship of the ring broken. Frodo and Sam are off to Mordor, Mary and Pippen are captured by Orcs, the others work to form alliances for the battles that are coming. Gandalf triumphantly reappears from his death defying fall with the Barlog to help lead the fight against Sauron, the Dark One.
Pippen and Merry escape the Orcs, and in the process meet the Ents, the treepeople, who help crush the forces coming from the tower of Saruman, who is controlled by Sauron. The War of the Ring is beginning.
